Week 3 Internet privacy vs. Market research

The battle begins

Week 1 My voice

Photography to me is a form of meditation. When I go out to a fashion shoot or out shooting landscape, I exit myself from reality. Being able to focus on my talent and being able to take my image out of the box from other photographers. At the age of sixteen, I was able to practice my talent by just taking photos of my friends and family. I never once thought that I would pursuit my talent to a professional level. I had always thought that this would just be a hobby of mine until others started complimenting my images. I enjoy fashion photography much more than other types of photography. I feel the competition much more and I also am able to express what I have on my mind. I also enjoy meeting other talented artist. Like the M.U.A (make-up artist), fashion designers, hair stylist and advertisers. Being able to network with them leads me to be informed in what is going on in the fast lane. I practice other forms of photography but every time you catch me with a camera I would be shooting a model.

Week 3 Making money for good

The first company that I like the most is “Ronald McDonald’s house”. What they do is house families when they have their children in hospitals. I believe from experience, is the greatest thing ever. When my child was hospitalized, it was hard for me to travel back and forth to California to be next to my child.
Our Ronald McDonald House program provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.  Our Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest.”

The next charity would be the Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries. This charity helps low income families find work.
Since our founding in 1895, Goodwill has been dedicated to the social justice mission of serving individuals, families, and communities with the greatest needs by helping people go to work to be able to support themselves and their families. Goodwill annually serves more than 7,200 low-income, unemployed and underemployed adults in its job training and career services programs, and more than 1,000 young people in its youth services programs. Further, Goodwill makes high quality clothing and household goods available at very reasonable prices through The Goodwill Stores. Goodwill is a major employer of individuals with disabilities in the social enterprises it operates in retail, housekeeping, and maintenance, food service and light assembly.”
"The way out of poverty is productive work. People deserve to be able to work. People need a chance, not charity," Rev. Helms said.
Those are the words of the finder of goodwill industries.

Week 2 Video Game Console

The Star will have to be the Nintendo Wii. They have reached incredible sales faster than any other rival.
“Nintendo (NTDOY) threw a PR party of sorts as sales of its Wii game console passed  the 30-million-unit mark in the U.S. The Japanese company said it hit the “milestone” in 45 months, 15 months faster than any of its rivals.”

The dollar sign will have to go to the Sony playstation. I feel that Sony’s sales are great due to the blue-ray capability.

The Dog will have to go to the Microsoft X-box 360.
“Even with the success achieved by the Xbox 360, the gaming industry as a whole showed a pretty unexpected performance and the total sales figures for the month of February, was down by 15 percent.”

The Star will be the Apple apps.
“There have been about 718 million DS games sold in the system's history, and about 252 million games sold on the PSP. And there have been 6.5 billion downloads of iOS apps so far (with 1.5 billion of those being game and entertainment apps). When you compare the numbers that way, yes, Apple is far outselling Nintendo and Sony in terms of game sales. But of course, iOS apps tend to be much cheaper than Sony and Nintendo's software (if not free), and gamers could probably argue all day about the difference in average quality of the two platforms.”

Week 1 My Excellent Costumer Service

“Relationships mean everything at Zappos. Hsieh and many other employees stay in direct touch with customers, with each other, and with just about anyone else interested in the company. They use social networking tools such as Facebook, Twitter, and blogs to share information, both good and bad. And the company invites customers to submit frank online reviews. Such openness might worry some retailers, but Zappos embraces it. As Magness points out, “you only need to worry if you have something to hide,” and Zappos seems to take even criticism as a free gift of information.”
(Marketing: An introduction for Education Management Corporation. 10th Edition, 4)

I believe that a relationship with the costumer is very important. During my comic book days I use to visit a vender many times, just because he remembered my name. I know that it is a small thing and someone usually remembers a customer but when the vender is being visited by thousands of customers a day, that little gesture is something important for a customer.
The great service that Zappos is providing is ultimately phenomenal. To offer that service to a customer will only spread the word to others and will lure others to shop at Zappos. Just by listening to the service that they are providing is just making me want to visit the website and see what all the hype is all about.
